“If we do something, it should be something special,” says the actor, who imagines the two making more buddy comedies.
Drake Bell has some ideas for a reunion with Josh Peck.
The Amanda Show The actor recently spoke about a possible new collaboration with his Nickelodeon co-star – but it would not be a continuation of their popular sitcom Drake and Josh.
“I would love to,” Bell said in an interview with The Patriot News“We talked about it. But I didn’t want to do it when everyone was doing the reboots.”

Nickelodeon certainly has a precedent for producing direct sequels to the series that made Bell and Peck teen stars. It has revived several of its 1990s and 2000s properties with their original casts, including Good burger, Zoey101And iCarlyin the latter played Drake and JoshMiranda Cosgrove. Bell, however, is not interested in this model and rejects the idea of ”doing a reboot because everyone is doing reboots”. He believes a DJ The reunion should take an alternative approach. “If we do something, it should be special,” he said. “Let them be surprised with a bang instead of saying, ‘Oh, another reboot.'”
Bell would prefer to work with Peck again on a new project. “I don’t think we would be playing the characters from the show or having Meg (Cosgroves),” he said. “I think fortunately, it’s our names, so we can still play Drake and Josh. But I think it would be funnier if we did more buddy comedies, you know? Something that’s kind of a surprise, a little different. That would be more interesting.”

Bell recently returned to the spotlight when he appeared in this year’s Investigations documentary series Peace on set: The dark side of children’s televisionIn the documentary, the actor spoke publicly for the first time about sexual abuse by Amanda Show Dialogue coach Brian Peck (no relation to Josh), who eventually served a prison sentence after being convicted of abusing Bell when she was a minor.
“There was a lot of support,” said Bell The Patriot News while talking about the series. “And when you dive into something like that, you’re very anxious. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. You don’t know how people are going to react, what’s going to happen, or what the consequences are going to be.”

After they had emerged as fan favorites on The Amanda ShowBell and Josh Peck spent four seasons as the titular step-siblings in Drake and Josh, from 2004 to 2007. The show also spawned a television movie, 2006 Drake and Josh go to Hollywoodand two unique specials.
After the Nickelodeon sitcom ended, Bell focused primarily on his music career and voice acting, playing Peter Parker in a series of animated films. Spider Man projects in the 2010s. In the meantime, Peck starred in television shows such as How I met your father And grandfather (in which Bell made a guest appearance) and in films such as Red Dawn And Oppenheimer.

Although some fans have speculated about bad blood between the two stars, when Peck did not immediately make a public statement Peace on setBell has reiterated that they are still on good terms. “I just want you guys to know that he reached out to me, and he did it very sensitively,” Bell said in a TikTok shortly after the documentary was released. “He reached out to talk to me and help me process this, and it was really, really great.”
