Lil Nas X can always be relied upon when it comes to tackling a fashion task.
The 25-year-old “Industry Baby” artist held no holds barred when choosing his outfit for the 2024 Met Gala, which had the theme “Thorny Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
Similar to his other Met Gala appearances this year, Lil Nas X showed up in an oversized cream suit by Luar with shiny silver panels. The oversized jacket dragged behind him and he threw it off at one point to continue posing for photos. He also wasted no time making TikToks on the carpet!
He accessorized with David Yurman jewelry, including an 18-karat white gold bracelet and earrings, and several rings. He also wore extra-long acrylic nails and dyed blonde hair. He also wore a custom brooch by Jennifer Behr.

At last year’s Met Gala – which was dedicated to the late Karl Lagerfeld – Lil Nas X appeared as Choupette, the designer’s cat. But instead of simply donning a fur coat, the musician covered himself in silver paint and crystals.

Lil Nas X worked with makeup artist Pat McGrath for head-to-toe glam and Dior Men for the evening’s look. Wearing a silver Dior thong and chunky silver glitter platform boots, his body was covered head-to-toe in silver paint and gems. His face was covered in silver makeup and tons of gems and pearls that flowed down his neck and onto his chest.
McGrath said fashion It took Lil Nas X nine hours to complete his incredible transformation, and yet he looked completely fresh again when the after-parties started just a few hours later.

Lil Nas X made his 2021 Met Gala debut and certainly put on a bold performance. The “Old Town Road” singer took the fashion world by storm that night when he showed everyone he meant business. He arrived in a gold velvet coat with a long train and looked like royalty as he walked the carpet.
And while that particular look could have easily been a real showstopper, it was just the beginning. Then Lil Nas X dropped the cape and revealed his second look for the evening: a gold suit of armor underneath. It was complemented by a pair of gold earrings and subtle gold winged eyeliner.
They say good things come in threes, so he had one more transformation to come. He ditched the armor for one final body-hugging look. For his final look of the evening, the artist wore a form-fitting, long-sleeved black jumpsuit with a deep zip, all covered in sparkling gold jewels. He paired the look with black combat boots and accessorized it with a gold necklace.
“How did I get this look? Well, it was about three different looks,” he told Keke Palmer on the red carpet during fashion‘s livestream. He said that after he took off his “armor,” he “got too sexy. You know, we got really sexy and slutty.”

The 2024 Met Gala co-chairs are Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. They are joined by honorary co-chairs Loewe Creative Director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
The Costume Institute’s upcoming exhibition will feature over 250 objects spanning more than 400 years of history – including 15 significant pieces, including a silk satin ball gown by Charles Frederick Worth from 1877.
