ALEXANDRIA – Join a presentation by United Communities Advocating Non-Violence Alexandria to learn how we can work together toward a peaceful, abuse-free community during a one-hour, informative, virtual Listen & Learn event on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from noon to 1 p.m.

During this event, you will hear from Heather Rondeau, Director of Research and Institutional Effectiveness at Alexandria College and UCAN President; Becky Schmitz, Executive Director of the Vikingland Community Support Program and UCAN Vice President; and Susan Keehn, Crime Victim Advocate at Someplace Safe and UCAN member.

Through support, awareness, education and engagement, UCAN’s mission is to transform the community and lives of those affected by domestic violence. The event is open to all and free. Register by visiting the Alexandria Chamber website at alexandriamn.org and looking for the registration link on the main page. Listen & Learn is a one-hour informative virtual event hosted by the Alexandria Chamber.

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
