Livingston County supports veterans with free access to parks

Livingston County Veteran Services is hosting a walk-in event on August 28 to help local veterans and Gold Star families receive lifetime free access to state and national parks. The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veteran Services office in Mount Morris, aims to register eligible participants for the NYS Lifetime Liberty and National Parks Lifetime Pass programs.

“We are committed to ensuring our veterans receive the benefits they deserve,” said David Terry, director of county Veteran Services. “These passes provide veterans and their families with wonderful opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of our state and country.”

The NYS Lifetime Liberty Pass, previously reserved only for disabled veterans, is now valid for all veterans and Gold Star families residing in New York State. This expansion offers free admission to state parks, golf courses, swimming pools and discounted camping.

Veterans unable to attend may apply online through the NYS Parks website. For more information, contact Livingston County Veteran Services at 585-243-7960.
