LL Cool J shares his thoughts on “Not Like Us”

LL Cool J recently spoke to Ray Daniels Media and praised the new generation of artists, especially Kendrick Lamar.

In the interview, the “Headsprung” rapper also revealed that he found K.Dot’s cover of “Not Like Us” hilarious.

“I just can’t get over him putting all those signs on homie’s house,” LL said of the red dots on the Drakes’ house that are meant to indicate the locations of suspected sex offenders. “That shit is crazy. It has nothing to do with anything, but it’s the funniest shit in the world. It’s crazy. You have to respect that mindset.”

LL further acknowledged the strategic and creative thinking of today’s generation of artists.

“This generation is more complex. The thinking is more complex. It used to be like, ‘Okay, you make the song. That’s it.’ Then it was like, ‘You make the song and you make the video.’ Now it’s like, ‘You make the song, you make the video, you have a brand, you make a book, you have the movie, you have the music. You make money from it. You have a platform. The complexity of the thought process is completely different,” LL explained.

This is not the first time LL has addressed the rap dispute between Drake and Kendrick.

VIBE reports that in July, LL criticized Drizzy for making a “poor decision” with his feud with K.Dot. His comments came during his interview with HOT 97’s TT Torrez. The “NCIS” actor also stated that he believed Kendrick won the fight.

“Kendrick won the battle. I mean, come on. That’s obvious. That’s a no-brainer. And listen, I like Drake. I love his music, he’s a cool dude. We don’t know each other, but I like his music. I’m happy for him and everything. But, you know, Kendrick… that might have been a bad choice.”

Michael Rubin talks about the decision not to play in “Not Like Us”

LL Cool J wasn’t the only one who recently shared his thoughts on Kendrick’s “Not Like Us.” Michael Rubin also revealed why he prevented the record and all Lamar songs from being played at his all-white party in July.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Michael Rubin hosted his annual all-white party on July 4, the same day Kendrick released the visuals for his diss track to Drake, “Not Like Us.”

Several stars attended Rubin’s event, including Drizzy. During his show “The Breakfast Club,” Michael Rubin addressed rumors that “Not Like Us” would no longer be played at his party. The CEO of Fanatics admitted that he left the song out of respect for his friend Drake.

“Drake has been my friend for a long time. I’m not going to invite him… let him come there… I just didn’t think it was appropriate. So I just said, hey, let’s not play the music of someone who’s in a feud with someone there.”
