Lowndes County Schools launch new app “Here Comes the Bus”

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – In less than 24 hours, Lowndes County Schools students will enter the halls for the first time in the 2024-2025 school year. But before they enter the halls, they must board the school bus.

The school system has introduced a new app to help parents keep track of the bus their children ride.

The Here Comes the Bus app shows the location of your child’s bus in real time – easily accessible on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

This is the first year the app is being implemented.

Lowndes County Schools soft-launched the app last spring, but this year marks the first time it will be actually implemented.

With the app, you know when the bus arrives at your child’s stop, when it has arrived at school and when it will take your child home.

“As a parent, I think it gives them a sense of understanding. Hey, here’s my child, and it’s reassuring to know what’s going on with the bus, how fast it’s going, where it is, and when it’s going to be there,” said Sandra Wilcher, superintendent of Lowndes County Schools. “I think these days, parents always want to know what’s going on with their child for safety reasons. We want them to have that information, and that’s why this is a great tool for us and for them.”

When downloading the app, you will need the five-digit school district code: 29932.
