Madelyn Cline just got a “beach bob” and it’s the coolest transitional cut for fall

Summer may be coming to an end, but Madelyn Cline just proved that casual beach hairstyles and low-maintenance bob haircuts won’t go out of style this fall.

The Outer banks Star, who is known for her long, golden blonde hair, just debuted the perfect combination of the two popular transitional hairstyles. Dubbed the “beach bob” by Cline’s favorite celebrity hairstylist Marc Mena, who also coined the term “90s supermodel bob” earlier this year, the cut is both low-maintenance and chic.

“Maddy and I were inspired by the beaches of Barcelona, so we wanted to create a look that was versatile and had a beachy feel,” Mena told GLAMOUR US. “But at the same time, we needed something that was super low-maintenance and easy to do at home, but conservative at the same time.” This is where the in-between beach bob came in, which Mena says will soon be seen everywhere.

“It’s such a good in-between length for easy styling,” says Mena. “It’s long enough to tie into a ponytail or low chignon bun, but doesn’t weigh you down.”

He adds, “Since we are in our ‘modest’ age, we need to be able to style our hair into a very ‘modest’ look.” This is really on trend!

Apart from its understated and mindful appearance, the Beach Bob is particularly ideal for the summer-autumn season.

“The beach bob is a great hairstyle for late summer and early autumn, as there are still a few hot days and you don’t want to have so much weight on your neck,” explains Mena. “When the real autumn comes and it’s cooler outside, the length will have grown a bit, so you can’t go wrong.”

Feeling inspired? I certainly am. To master Madelyn Cline’s beach bob haircut yourself, Mena suggests asking for a “lob” with long, layered angles in the front – this is not a blunt cut. “You need some angles and long layers to give your face the shape,” he clarifies. “The top layers and texture keep it from looking flat.”

Because this haircut creates a lot of movement, texture and volume, you’ll want to blow-dry it accordingly, he adds. “For maximum volume, blow-dry with a round brush, such as the Revlon One-Step Volumizer or Shark FlexStyle,” suggests Mena. Remember: Big hair is in!

“When you’re done, spray Maria Nila Ocean Spray and work it into the hair, but don’t overdo it,” concludes Mena. “Spray from about 30cm away, as you don’t want to be too close and you don’t want it to get wet; finally, add a little InvisiDry Shampoo to the roots to give the hair more body.”

Et voilà! You have mastered your very own beach bob.
