Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari are the two hottest mid-size 7-seater SUVs in the Indian car market. Both are the strongest competitors followed by the MG Hector Plus. Tata Safari is offered in 6 and 7-seater variants while the XUV700 is available in 5, 6 and 7-seater variants. However, the base MX variant of the XUV700 was only available in 5-seater versions. Now the brand has taken a bold step and introduced a 7-seater configuration in the lower variant!

Mahindra XUV700 MX 7-seater
Currently, the 7-seater option for the Mahindra XUV700 is available from the AX 5 variant, which is priced at Rs 22.34 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). On the other hand, its rival, the 7-seater variant of the Tata Safari is priced at Rs 19.58 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). To undercut the price of the Tata Safari, Mahindra has launched the 7-seater variant of the XUV700 MX.

Price
Mahindra has launched the new variant only in diesel manual transmission for now. In terms of price, the MX 7-seater is only Rs 40,000 more expensive than the MX 5-seater variant. However, the new MX 7-seater of the XUV700 costs around Rs 18.83 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). That is almost Rs 3.5 lakh cheaper than the AX 3 7-seater variant.
Mahindra XUV700 – Specifications
As mentioned above, the new variant was launched with an optional diesel engine. It has a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 153 hp and 360 Nm of maximum torque. In the MX variant, this engine is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Features
In terms of features, the 7-seater version is expected to get all the features of the MX-5-seater version. The list includes: 8-inch touchscreen system, 7-inch MID with analogue dials, Android Auto, electric ORVMs, tilt adjustable steering wheel, follow-me headlamps and a few more. In addition, the SUV is expected to get AC vents in the third row along with cup holders and USB charging ports.
