Maintenance and repair work planned on river banks in County Waterford

Stakeholders and members of the public are asked for their views on maintenance projects planned for a number of rivers in County Waterford that flow into the River Blackwater.

The local authority has announced plans to undertake a number of projects along the Owennashad River and the Ballynaparka/Goish River near the village of Lismore.

The three projects include maintenance and repair works on the Owennashad River riverbank at the Carrignagower Picnic Area along the L5017, at the Ballynaheeny Bridge on the L2009 road and at the Ballynaparka/Goish River on the L2012 road.

As part of the public consultation process, Natura Impact Statements and maps were produced, which can be viewed in person or online – Click here.

All submissions and comments must be made in writing or e-mail until September 16, 2924.

Waterford City and County Council advises that it will determine whether or not the proposed projects would adversely affect the integrity of a European site in accordance with Regulation 42(11) of the European Union (Birds and Natural Habitats) Regulations 2011 (SI No. 477 of 2011) and Article 6(3) of the Habitats Directive.
