Man accused of murdering his sister in Hampstead, Ohio, awaits extradition

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Pender County Sheriff’s Office announced that a man accused of murdering his sister was located in Chardon, Ohio on Monday, August 12.

The Pender County Sheriff’s Office announced that Matthew Edward Dolan is wanted in connection with a homicide in Hampstead.

Dolan was taken into custody by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina.

“Authorities here and in Ohio deserve credit for taking Mathew Dolan into custody. We will work to have him extradited to Pender County as soon as possible so he can face justice,” District Attorney Ben David said in a statement.

According to the sheriff’s office, emergency dispatch received multiple calls about a structure fire on Masters Lane in Hampstead around 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 11.

During firefighting, Megan Elizabeth Dolan* was found in the apartment.

After further investigation, the sheriff’s office determined that Megan Dolan was murdered before the fire. District Attorney Ben David said during the press conference that there is likely a connection between the fire and the murder.
