Man seriously injured in drive-by shooting outside Drake’s house in Toronto; rapper not injured

A man was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting outside hip-hop star Drake’s home in Toronto, police said Tuesday. Toronto Sun reported that the victim was a 48-year-old security guard who suffered multiple blows, including an injury to the upper chest. He underwent surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Drake was not injured, his spokesman said today, and it was unclear whether he was at home at the time.

The entrance to the Toronto star’s $100 million mansion on Park Lane Circle in the upscale Bridle Path neighbourhood was cordoned off amid a heavy police presence this morning. Toronto police described the incident in an X/Twitter post at 2:10 a.m. ET, saying the “suspect fled in a vehicle.” No arrests were made.

Photos of the sprawling property are frequently posted on social media, including by Drake himself. The shooting came amid a very public feud between Drake and fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, during which the two have traded insults and diss tracks.

Drake (real name Aubrey Drake Graham) is one of the most popular recording artists of the 21st century, with 13 No. 1 singles and nine platinum albums in the U.S., as well as dozens of hits around the world.

The incident came three years after a woman allegedly armed with a knife was arrested after attacking a security guard outside her Toronto mansion.
