On April 14, 1865, Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators attempted to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln, Vice President Andrew Johnson, and Secretary of State William H. Seward.

Only Booth succeeded in killing Lincoln, as Seward was wounded but survived, and Johnson’s would-be assassin became drunk and gave up the attempt.

Kate Grindsaff, Seward House’s education and outreach coordinator, discussed the event during her monthly conversation with Ted Baker on FLX Morning. You can listen to the interview below.
