Marouane Fellaini could face a retrospective ban for pulling Matteo Guendouzi’s hair during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Six yellow cards were handed out in the heated match at Old Trafford, but somehow Fellaini, who came on as a substitute in the second half, did not receive a booking for the foul.

Fellaini, who famously cut his curly hair a week early for his birthday, stopped the Arsenal midfielder with this move.

While some fans took the hair-pulling with humor, many loudly shouted “foul” and demanded a ban for the stocky Belgian.

Fellaini now has to wait nervously to see whether the English Football Association (FA) will take subsequent action.

Since referee Andre Marriner saw the incident and only judged it a foul, but did not show Fellaini a card, it is unclear what action the FA can take; however, there is a precedent for a ban.

Ian Wright was banned for three matches in 1996 after ripping a lock of Sheffield Wednesday winger Regi Blinker’s dreadlocks. In the second incident in 2016, Fellaini himself was the victim when Robert Huth pulled his hair.
