Martin and Gradisek lead men’s golf at Jefferson Landing

JEFFERSON, NC — App State Men’s Golf competed with two teams at the Jefferson Landing Collegiate on Wednesday, along with Queens.

In a format that included the top four scores from teams of six players on each side, App State finished with a total score of 14 over par (289-285–574), six strokes behind Queens (total score of 8 over par).

The Mountaineers’ best individual players were Alex Martin (69-75—144) and James Gradisek (73-71—144). They finished fifth with 4 overs. In his college debut, the freshman Charlie O’Shea had five birdies for a score of 2 under par 68 and finished with a total score of 5 over par 145.

Rob Bergevin scored two consecutive 73s for a total of 6 over par, followed by a single participant Ben Locker at 7 over par (71-76—147). Jack Seward finished with a 73, and the lone fighter Aidan Browning The opening round of 73 included a 4-under 31 on the front with an eagle and two birdies.

John Fahey of Queens led with an even-par total (69-71—140), followed by Ed Davis (68-73—141) and Thomas Taylor-Cross (71-71—142).

The 2024-25 season is presented by the Hound Ears Club.
