Sadie Sinkthe actor who played Max in the last three seasons of Stranger Thingshas provided an update on the character’s fate in the upcoming fifth and final season of one of Netflix’s most important series. Although we saw Max go blind and fall into a deep coma in the season finale with no sign of her waking from her eternal sleep, Sink is involved in the production of the fifth season..

According to Sink’s own words in a Variety interview, her character will certainly appear in the final season of the series, which will premiere sometime in 2025. Although Max appears to be in a coma, that doesn’t mean that few scenes were shot: “I’ve been working all last week and I’m thinking, “Oh my God, I forgot how difficult this show is. You’re a team player here. It’s not about me. It’s not about anybody else. It’s about the show and what’s best for them.”

Months ago, Sink’s message was optimistic but different. She told Movieweb that Max’s fate was uncertain, but the world of Stranger Things is full of wonder and teases:
I mean, you saw how it ended in season four, so I can’t answer that. But it would be a miracle if she did – and miracles have happened on the show. So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
It didn’t help to dispel the doubts as it didn’t indicate her active involvement, other than being a minor character in the background. However, Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of the series, also confirmed her involvement at the end of the series. “She will play a role in the season,” Matt said, to which Ross replied, “But we don’t want to give away how that’s possible.” Matt replied, “Right, because she’s in a coma.”
He continued to talk about Sink’s acting skills: “I think she’s just become more confident as an actress and in her choices. We shot a scene with her recently that was just absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t know how she hits those notes.”

Stranger Things Season 5: What we know so far
There are not many details about season 5 of Stranger ThingsAll we know is that it will be the final installment in the series and will serve as the conclusion to the nostalgic behemoth created by the Duffer brothers and inspired by every single piece of ’80s pop culture. Based on numerous statements from the cast, it is safe to say that the final season will be “insane” and “huge.”New characters will also be introduced and there will likely be cameos, but it has not yet been confirmed who they will play in the final eight-episode season.. Maya Hawke, who plays Robin in the series, was more detailed about the scope of the final season. In terms of production value, she claimed, “We’re basically making eight movies.” This suggests that each episode could have a runtime similar to that of a feature film. The season four finale was 144 minutes long, so we can probably expect more of that in the future.
What you can be sure of is that Netflix is likely cut the final season into two big pieces, just like they did with popular signature shows like Cobra Kai And Bridgerton. It is yet to be decided if they will release multiple episodes in one day or if it will be some sort of weekly release of the episodes. All speculation and no confirmation, but today you can be sure that Max is coming backand you may hear the strains of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” coming from her headphones again. Could this be how she wakes up? We’ll have to wait and see…
Seasons 1 through 4 are available to stream on Netflix, and season 5 will premiere exclusively on the streamer in 2025.
