Mayor Sharon Tucker announces plans to invest in key projects after Fort Wayne receives .3 million from the State of Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – On Thursday, Mayor Sharon Tucker announced that the City of Fort Wayne has received a $15.3 million additional income tax payment from the State of Indiana. She said the plan is to invest funds in important projects throughout the city to improve the quality of life for everyone.

Mayor Tucker says the funding will be focused on the following areas:

  • Financing of individual city council districts for neighborhood projects
    • $250,000 for each district, totaling $1.5 million
  • City Council funding for neighborhood projects
  • Crossing the bridge over Coliseum Boulevard as part of the Pufferbelly Trail
  • Three Portland Loos in the city centre
  • Financing of works on river bank phase IIB
  • Playground equipment in city parks – Lakeside, McCormick, Indian Village, Waynedale, Jehl and Franke
  • Funding public safety as a prerequisite for local income tax supplementary distribution
  • Set aside funds for the city’s general fund
  • Set aside funds for future investment projects through the LIT/CEDIT fund
