Shortly after his departure from Jenn TranSeason of The Bachelorette On Monday, August 12, ABC announced that Grant, 30, has been cast as the lead for the 29th season of The BachelorThe appointment of the Texan-born actor is historic, according to Matt James‘ footsteps as the second black Bachelor.

“I’m looking for a love that is kind and understanding,” Grant said in the episode of Good morning America“Some qualities I look for in a potential partner are someone who is adventurous, tender and loving. I can’t wait for this incredible journey to begin. It’s going to be so much fun. I hope you tune in.”

The timing of the announcement of Grant’s casting surprised many Bachelor Nation fans, as the news came in the middle of Jenn’s Bachelorette season. ABC exec Robert Mills later reached out to X to offer some explanation for the decision, writing, “We are announcing Grant so quickly so people can still apply for his season.”

Just over a month before Jenn Tran’s premiere of “The Bachelorette,” ABC confirms the official lineup of contestants. 2. How long did Grant Ellis play basketball?

After playing basketball in high school, Grant took his athletic talents to several schools – including Iona University, Southern University and Albertus Magnus College – before turning professional in the Dominican Republic.

Since stepping out of the limo on the first night of the season and serenading Jenn, Grant has focused on Jenn by mostly staying out of his peers’ drama. After attending several group dates, he had his first and only one-on-one time with Jenn in week five. He and Jenn went for a scenic horseback ride along a New Zealand beach before their picnic was interrupted by rain.

“My feelings for Jenn are definitely deeper than they used to be, like, a lot deeper. Since the beginning, every time I see her, my feelings get stronger and I think there’s another layer that could be unlocked,” he said in a confessional while clips of them kissing on the beach were shown. “Hopefully she feels the same. I’m just going to continue to disclose everything and, you know, hopefully she sees that my sincerity and my feelings are genuine.”

I want a family, you know? I want to be happy, I want a wife, I want to be in love. I want that, you know? I want to give somebody everything and I want them to give me everything in return.”

4. What did Grant Ellis say about his family?

At his New Zealand one-on-one date’s dinner, Grant told Jenn about his personal life.

“My father has been addicted to drugs for about 30 years. Addiction is a tough thing because when I was growing up, my father was everything to me, he was my superhero,” he said, recalling how his father would get drunk and take him out as a child without him knowing about it.

Grant further mentioned that his father decided to go to rehab after his release. “(He) went to rehab, and since then we’ve always talked and he’s like, ‘Listen, son. This is the first time you’ve seen the real me when I’m not drunk,'” he told Jenn. “So, I’m really building this up. Now he’s been sober for almost two months, so I hope he stays strong. And it’s also his first time being alive.”

Grant concluded the discussion by saying, “My mission in life is to be the man my father was not.”

5. What are Grant Ellis’ hobbies

“When Grant isn’t busy working, he enjoys watching the Lakers, bowling and singing karaoke his heart out,” said his ABC singer.
