Meet hairdressers who understand that their work is more than just a haircut

Hairdressers are people of many talents. They must possess a range of skills to serve clients with different hair textures, face shapes and style preferences.

But at its core, being a hairdresser is about much more than just cutting men’s hair.

The ability to hold conversations is also important – whether it’s casual banter or just being a good listener. For many men, the barber shop is a place where they can switch off from work, talk about sports and relieve stress.

On Monday at 9 a.m., MPR News anchor Angela Davis will take a look behind the scenes at the hair salon. She’ll talk to three hairdressers who know their work isn’t just about the haircut. It’s about the connection. These professionals don’t just hold the clippers – they help create a space where everyone feels like family.

And we want to hear from you too.

Are you a hairdresser? What makes your hair salon special? What is important to you when cutting hair? What qualities do you think a good hairdresser should have?
