Meet: Lexi Bresnan, Director of Education at Homewood Theatre

Q: How did you get into acting/performing?

A: I started acting when I was in high school. I was put in the theater elective by chance, and at the end of the semester I was in one of the one-act plays, and I fell in love with the role, and I was in all the shows after that. And then – when I graduated high school, I auditioned at Belmont University and got my Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater acting. And then I started doing children’s theater tours, too.

Q: Who inspires you as an artist?

A: My biggest theatrical inspiration is probably Barrett Wilbert Reed. She played Janice in Mean Girls and she was in Heathers and several other plays on Broadway. But she has an incredible voice and I really admire the characters she plays and the amount of work that goes into them.

Q: What is your favorite/most memorable performance?

A: My favorite performance was my senior year of college. I played Molly in Peter and the Starcatcher, a prequel to Peter Pan. It was great. I got to play a 13-year-old kid and really have fun. And we got to do it at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. It was our very first show there. It was a huge theater and we got to really play around with the orchestra pit and the set. And it was just a ton of fun and my cast was great and my director was great and I loved it.

Q: Tell us about an upcoming performance.

A: So, my next gig is at the Homewood Theatre, where I’m actually the Director of Education, but now I’m looking at it in a new capacity and I’m going to be in But Why Bump Off Barnaby? I’m going to be playing Magnolia, the maid, and I’m super excited. It’s late October, early November and this is my first gig as an actress at the Homewood Theatre, rather than working behind the scenes as the Director of Education.

Q: Where can we see you perform next?

A: You can next see me in “But Why Bump Off Barnaby?” at the Homewood Theatre from October 24th to November 3rd.
