Meet the 4th Senate District candidates in the Democratic primary

play

In the primary election on August 13, two candidates will face a rematch for the 4th Senate District seat in the state legislature.

State Assemblymembers Dora Drake and LaKeshia Myers are running in the Democratic primary, just over a month after their July 2 special election.

They ran for the seat previously held by Senator Lena Taylor, who resigned when she became a district judge in Milwaukee County.

Drake won the primary, allowing him to serve the remainder of Taylor’s term in 2024, and he faced no opposition in the July 30 general election.

Now Drake and Myers are vying for a full four-year term. Once again, there is no Republican candidate in the Nov. 5 general election, so the winner of the Democratic primary will take the seat.

The 4th Senate District includes northern parts of Milwaukee as well as Shorewood and Glendale.
