Meet the baby with the fastest growing hair in the UK

Bringing a baby into the world is a difficult task. Once it’s out of the womb and into your life, there are constant tasks like feeding and cleaning up.

But one mother has something else to add to this list: she wants to take her baby to the hairdresser.

Fergus Hillman from Saltash, Cornwall, is only six months old but he has already had his hair cut twice in his short life.

His mother Hayley, 30, is convinced he is the baby with the fastest growing hair in Britain.

He was born with full, thick, curly hair that requires constant care, unlike most babies who don’t go to the hairdresser for several years.

Nurse Hayley says Fergus’ hairstyle really stands out when he’s next to another baby. It follows the curls of his mum, sister and grandfather – all of whom were born with a full head of hair.

“I was hairy and my dad was hairy,” Hayley said.

“I think you don’t realise how hairy he is until you compare him to other babies, but people generally just laugh about it.”

His cousin Chloe, for example, is two weeks older but completely bald, while Fergus rocks with his amazing mushroom head.

He had his first haircut at the hairdresser when he was four months old and has just been there for the second time. He turns six months old this week.

“During his second haircut, he fell asleep as soon as the barber started brushing his hair,” Hayley said.

“He is adorable. He is always smiling, loves his sister and always laughs at her.”
