Meet your Syracuse Orange Man: No. 3, DB Clarence Lewis

It’s time to start preparing for 2024 Syracuse Orange Football season. We’re going through the roster to look at each Syracuse player, as we’ll be seeing a lot of new faces as we kick off the Fran Brown era.

Next comes …

Name: Clarence Lewis

Position: Defensive back

Year: senior

Height: 1.83m

Weight: 201 pounds.

Hometown: Edison, NJ

Secondary school: Mother Dei

Previous College: Notre-Dame

Statistics for 2023: Appeared in all 13 games as a reserve for the Fighting Irish, collecting nine tackles, three pass breakups and a 33-yard pick-six.

Forecasts for 2024: Lewis has two years of experience as a starter in South Bend and has been the CB1 consistently since the start of fall camp. A late fifth-year transfer like him is usually promised a lot of playing time and that’s exactly what Clarence envisions in South Bend’s 4-2-5 defense.

How did he get here?: Traded to the Orange in April after the cornerback position seemed uncertain in spring camp. Originally held offers from Nebraska, Kentucky, Purdue, Minnesota, West Virginia, NC State, Vanderbilt, Duke, BC, Virginia Tech and from Coach Fran at Rutgers.

What do the recruitment sites say?: Lewis was originally a three-star prospect and had the same rating in the transfer portal.

Social media info:

Interesting nugget of interest: Lewis graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in art and hopes to continue in that field while playing football in the NFL.
