According to a press release, the Messy Art program invited children to get dirty while creating artwork. Over the course of one afternoon in July, children ages 3 to 11 created more than 30 pieces of art, including stamp art with paint-dipped feet in bubble wrap, watercolor painting with spray bottles and painting with everyday objects like sponges, spoons and spatulas.
The children experimented with process art, where the goal was not the result but the experience itself.
The public is invited to view the exhibit from September 1 through October 31 in the library’s Speers Gallery, 112 Main St., Kennebunk, during regular library hours when the gallery is not in use for library programs. For current gallery hours and access, visit www.kennebunklibrary.org.
