Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen on Charles Barkley’s list of cheapskates

Charles Barkley says Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are stingy when it comes to money.

During an interview with late-night host Conan O’Brien, Barkley revealed how he differs from his Dream Team colleagues.

“There is no one cheaper than Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan,” Barkley said.

After O’Brien asked how stingy Jordan was, Barkley told a short anecdote.

“He’s stingy,” he said. “We’re talking super stingy. I always give money to homeless people and he always slaps me on the hand. He always says, ‘If they can ask you for change, they can say, ‘Welcome to McDonald’s. Can I help you?'”

It seems as if Barkley is not the least bit shy about spilling the beans on these two players with whom he shares a shared past.

Barkley and Jordan were once best friends. Barkley often referred to Jordan as “Black Jesus” when they played golf together.

In a 2023 interview with 60 Minutes, Barkley said he and Jordan hadn’t spoken in years. Apparently, this is because Barkley criticized Jordan for his handling of ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats.

“I said, ‘I don’t think he’s going to have enough people around him to tell him no,'” Barkley said. “And he was really offended and we didn’t talk again.”

Barkley and Pippen were teammates on the Houston Rockets in 1999. They have been involved in a long-running feud that dates back to Pippen wanting to leave the Rockets after just one season.
