Michael Rubin admits he banned Kendrick Lamar’s diss track at Drake’s 4th of July party

Fanatics founder Michael Rubin has revealed that he personally requested that Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” not be played during his star-studded Fourth of July party out of respect for his close friend Drake.

The revelation came during Rubin’s recent appearance on “Breakfast Club,” where he discussed his decision to keep the party’s playlist free of music that could stoke tensions.

Rubin explained that given Drake’s presence, it was important to him not to play any songs that could potentially embarrass the rapper.

“I just didn’t think it was appropriate,” Rubin admitted.

“I said, ‘Hey, let’s not play anybody’s music here that’s at odds with anyone.’ That was my decision. I just thought that wasn’t the right thing to do.”

The conversation then turned to the broader context of Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar, which has caused considerable controversy in the music world.

Rubin was aware of the challenges that come with living in the public eye and how artists like Drake must deal with criticism and competition.

“You have to be social media-ready, you have to be tough, you have to put up with a lot from people,” Rubin said, noting that intense scrutiny is an essential part of success.

Rubin went on to praise Drake’s resilience and expressed confidence that the rapper will continue to produce “incredible music” despite the challenges.

“This is a big test for him,” Rubin said. “You can’t get to where he is without people chasing you. With success comes more competition, more hate, and the best people show why they’re the best.”
