Michael Rubin confirms that “Not Like Us” was banned from the 2024 all-white party

Drake may have many enemies, but he also has some good friends. On Wednesday (August 14), Michael Rubin stopped by “The Breakfast Club” and confirmed that Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is taboo for him. Party all in white in the Hamptons in July.

drake (has) been my friend for a long time,” the CEO of Fanatics explained his motives. He continued: “I just didn’t think it was appropriate, so I sent a message (saying), ‘Hey, let’s not play the music of someone who has a feud with someone there.'”

When asked if it was the Toronto native’s idea, Rubin clarified: “It was my decision. I just thought it was the right thing to do.” Attendees at the event included Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Teyana Taylor, Travis Scott, Beyoncé, JAY-Z and Lil Wayne.

However, the business magnate revealed that “Not like us” ended up playing at a smaller event he hosted the day before July 4. He said, “It was supposed to be 30 people. It ended up being 200 people and it lasted about 10 hours. That was the prelude to the White Party. When they turned on the music at my house, they played (on Spotify) Rap Caviarand ‘Not Like Us’ came out.”

“It was in the middle of ‘Not Like Us’ and I was like, ‘Take that off! Take that off!'” he continued. Thankfully, Drake wasn’t around, but according to Rubin, “he was coming soon.”

Rubin then commented on the For all dogs the rapper’s recent feuds. “Drake is an iconic artist that we all respect tremendously. What I told Drake, and I truly believe this, is that this is a huge test for him. You can’t get to where he is without people coming after you,” the entrepreneur stressed.

Earlier this month, Drake released three singles: “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Blue Green Red” and “Housekeeping Knows” in collaboration with Latto.
