Michelle Williams is ditching her signature blonde hair color for the 2024 Met Gala and instead sporting a soft pink pixie cut. The “Fabelmans” actress walked the decorated green carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night wearing a voluminous Chanel dress, a sparkling tiara and perhaps the most unexpected beauty transformation of the Met Gala: a new pink hair color.
While the fresh hue undoubtedly represents a strong alternative for the actress, the romantic nature of the hairstyle effortlessly fit the evening’s theme: “Thorny Beauties: Fashion That Resurfaces.” The hairstyle looked complete with a delicate jeweled headband and sleek, side-swept styling courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan.
When it comes to makeup, Williams opted for a playful beauty look with a touch of smoky grunge.
“I was inspired to create an ethereal yet edgy makeup look that represents Michelle at her core,” says makeup artist Angela Levin, who is behind the beauty. “What came to mind was the image of an angel in a French new wave era.”
Levin continues, “I wanted to create an eye look that included a combination of softness and edginess, and excluded sharp lines. I worked in circular motions while applying the eyeshadow to the eyelid. I started by applying the lightest color of the Chanel Ombre Essentielle Multi-Use Longwearing Eyeshadow in the inner corners of the eyes and applied darker shades outwards – and blended them seamlessly to create an ombré effect.”
The focal point of the event, however, was William’s delicate Chanel minidress and voluminous, sheer cape. Paired with a simple metallic heel and glittery button embellishments, this overly pretty look is like a glimpse into a fairytale. The soft pink pixie cut was just the final fairytale touch.
