Start times for football matches postponed
Due to high temperatures expected in the area Friday night, several local high school football teams have postponed the start times of their games.
For the following games, kick-off has been postponed to 8 p.m.:
* Doddridge County near St. Marys
* Ripley in South Charleston
* John Marshall in Marietta
* Belpre at Fort Frye
* Caldwell in Waterford

Warren honors historic football teams
The players, cheerleaders, managers and coaches of Warren High School’s 1963-64, 1964-65 and 1965-66 Pioneer Valley League championship teams will be honored prior to the Sept. 20 football game against Paintsville, Kentucky, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
Also invited are members of the first Warren football team (1961-62) under coach Vince Scragg and the 1962-63 team under coach Ron Rice.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the main entrance of the stadium and the ceremony begins at 6:15 p.m. on the stadium field.

Marietta High School Athletes Hall of Fame
The Marietta High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 28, at the Lafayette Hotel.
Members of this class include Tom Baker (1960), Jerry Brock (coach), Shawna Daugherty (1995), Scott Strahler (1998), Bill Ross Jr. (1979) and the late William Whetsell (1963). The inductees will also be honored at the varsity football team’s home game on Friday, September 27.

Tickets for the event, which includes a dinner buffet, are $40 each. Table sponsorships, which include up to eight tickets, are also available for $300 each.
