But it seems that Monzo has crashed, leaving many users unable to access their bank accounts.

According to Down Detector, the problems started around 12pm and are affecting users across the UK.

When attempting to access the Monzo app, MailOnline received the following error message: “We’re experiencing problems.”

“Your app will not be fully functional – thank you for your patience.”

MailOnline attempted to access the Monzo app and received an error message that read:

To date, Down Detector has logged more than 2,440 issues.

Fifty-seven percent of those who reported problems said they had difficulty using the mobile app, while 40 percent said they were unable to transfer money.

The remaining three percent said they had problems paying a bill.

Several frustrated users flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss today’s outage.

“@monzo Is the app down? I have two business accounts and one personal account and they’re all having issues sending payments? Money sent doesn’t appear in the other account etc. Been waiting ages. ?” tweeted one user.

Another added: “You guys are broken @monzo. Online payments keep getting declined. A quick search here shows lots of others having issues this morning…”

And one person let off steam: “I think it’s time to abandon this sinking ship, @monzo app keeps breaking.”

“There is virtually no support (even though I pay £15 a month!!). It was a good run but in the end they ruined everything.”

Although Monzo has not yet made an official statement, it has responded to several tweets.

In response to one user, it said: “We know this situation is far from ideal.”

“Our team is aware of this issue and is working hard to resolve it as quickly as possible. We really appreciate your continued patience here.”

Speaking to MailOnline, a Monzo spokesperson confirmed that customers can still make bank transfers and card payments, make ATM withdrawals, view their balances and transactions, block their cards, move money between accounts and pots, and contact the support team if needed.
