Most parents cannot afford school supplies for their children

More than half of U.S. parents say they need financial assistance to buy their children’s technology Needs for schoola worrying statistic, since the Back to school Kick-off.

EcoATM Gazellea mobile device recycling company, surveyed 1,000 parents with children ages 8 to 18 about their financial well-being of technology.

About two-thirds of parents surveyed said they think about buying new technology for their children at least once a year, and 56% said they need to buy their children technology to keep them tech-savvy. Additionally, most children can’t graduate high school without computers because so much homework is done online.

But many families cannot afford the high prices of this technology.

The survey found that 55% of parents said they went into credit card debt, made installment payments or borrowed money from friends or family to buy new devices for their children’s school. Nearly half said they had decided against buying devices for their children because of the cost.

41 percent of respondents said they are more interested in affordable, low-cost brands due to inflation. EcoATM Gazelle sells refurbished technology that it says is a sustainable and affordable alternative for budget-conscious parents.

“With technology being essential in today’s learning environment, parents want to ensure their children are equipped with devices that can help them achieve their goals,” said Stan Pavlovsky, CEO of ecoATM Gazelle, in a press release. “As a father, I share these concerns and believe parents should have accessible technology and not have to choose between buying a quality tablet or phone for their child’s school success or paying for groceries.”
