LEXINGTON, OH (August 15, 2024) – The last time Cameron Beaubier spun a wheel in anger at the Mid-Ohio Sport Car Course was the last time the AMA Superbike Series raced at the legendary track – 10 years ago. Beaubier won the first race and finished second in the second race. And now it was Beaubier who was the best on the day at the official Dunlop test leading into this weekend’s Permco Superbikes at Mid-Ohio event.

Beaubier’s best lap was 1:24.126, which came in the second of four sessions on an overcast day at Mid-Ohio. He was the only driver in the top five to set his best lap in the second session – despite leading the first three sessions and opting to sit out the fourth session due to light rain.

Warhorse HSBK Ducati Racing Team’s Josh Herrin continued to put in an impressive performance, with the current championship leader setting the second fastest time of 1’24.788 in the final session of the day.

Herrin led ahead of teammate Loris Baz and his time of 1:25.114 on the Frenchman’s first day on the Mid-Ohio track.

Sean Dylan Kelly of EasyHealthPlans.com/TopPro Racing finished fourth and Jake Gagne of Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing finished fifth.

Gagne’s teammate Cameron Petersen suffered a high-speed crash in the left-hand corner before Carousel in the third of four Superbike sessions that day and was taken to the infield medical center and then to hospital where his ankle/foot was x-rayed.

S&S/Indian Motorcycle’s Troy Herfoss narrowly edged Harley-Davidson Factory Racing’s Kyle Wyman by 0.042 seconds in the second and final session of the Mission King Of The Baggers. RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson’s Rocco Landers and teammate Hayden Gillim finished third and fourth, respectively.

Rahal Ducati Moto’s PJ Jacobsen outpaced Strack Racing’s Mathew Scholtz, with the rivals in the Supersport championship separated by just 0.170 seconds. Altus Motorsports’ Jake Lewis was third fastest.

Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson teammates Travis Wyman and Jake Lewis were fastest in the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship, with KTM Development Team’s Chris Fillmore taking third on the KTM Duke Prototype.

BARTCON Racing’s Matthew Chapin led the Junior Cup testers, defeating Royalty Racing’s Carson King and Fernandez Racing’s Jayden Fernandez.

Training for the 12 races (six classes) of the weekend begins on Friday, August 16, at 9 a.m.
