Marks & Spencer (M&S) has officially launched its new clothing repair service in partnership with SOJO, a specialist in clothing repairs and alterations. This previously announced service is now available to M&S customers across the UK as part of the retailer’s wider sustainability initiative ‘Plan A – Another Life’. The service can be accessed through M&S’s retail stores, website and app.

Customers can book a range of repair services, including zip replacements and knitwear mending, through a dedicated online hub. Prices for repairs start at £5 (US$6.56). M&S garments can be sent to SOJO’s in-house team for repair, with repaired items returned to the customer within seven to 10 days.

This partnership is supported by M&S’s £1 million Plan A Accelerator Fund, which aims to promote the circular economy through innovative projects. The Plan A – Another Life platform also includes other sustainability initiatives such as the Beauty Takeback Scheme with Handle and a long-standing clothing donation program with Oxfam.

M&S provides additional resources on the platform, including 60-second instructional videos on topics such as removing bobbles from knitwear and adjusting hemlines, created by the retailer’s technical experts.

Richard Price, Managing Director of Clothing and Home at M&S, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability, saying: “With the launch of our repair service, we are making it even easier for our customers to give their clothes a second life.”

Josephine Philips, founder and CEO of SOJO, announced the launch of the service on LinkedIn, calling it a significant step forward for the circular fashion industry. Philips stressed the importance of extending the lifespan of clothing and described this collaboration as a step towards mainstreaming clothing repair.
