Anita Baker (Fulton County Sheriff’s Office)

Authorities made numerous arrests and obtained warrants for even more people in connection with the investigation into what the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office says is a smuggling and fraud case.

According to the sheriff, the investigation culminated in an early morning operation on Friday. Deputies say there are two ongoing and related criminal investigations that have each revealed over $1 million in illegal transactions.

The investigation, which began in June 2024 with the arrest of Markeisha Clark on identity theft charges, has expanded to include current inmates of the Fulton County Jail, as well as their family members and acquaintances outside the facility. The contraband includes drugs, cell phones, and other electronic devices allegedly used to support criminal activity inside the jail.

Among those arrested on Friday were:

  • Anita Baker, 57, is charged with obtaining/procuring/giving a prepaid card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.
  • 18-year-old Devin Brown is charged with obtaining/providing a prepaid card, card account number or PIN to an inmate and conspiracy to commit a crime.
  • Markeisha Clark, 25, is charged with two counts of obtaining/obtaining/transferring a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.
  • Kimberly Floyd, 43, is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
  • Contrell Simpson, 41, is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
  • Brianna Smith, 27, is charged with obtaining/procuring/giving a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.

Arrest warrants have been issued for several other people who are still at large. Authorities are looking for:

  • Dajaiah Jackson, 26, is charged with six counts of obtaining/obtaining/distributing a prepaid card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.
  • Mayke Jones, 25, is charged with obtaining/procuring/giving a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.
  • Jo Lisa Moss, 24, is charged with two counts of obtaining/obtaining/distributing a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.
  • Amere Smith, 19, is charged with obtaining/procuring/giving a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.
  • Tiambra Smith, 26, is charged with four counts of obtaining/providing a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime.

In addition, two women were arrested and released on bail in connection with this investigation in late June and early July:

  • Aubree Cuna, 26, is charged with obtaining/providing a stored value card, card account number or PIN for an inmate and conspiracy to commit a crime.
  • Janiha Pazhedath, 24, is charged with obtaining/procuring/giving a prepaid card, card account number or PIN to an inmate.

The investigation has also identified at least four current inmates of the Fulton County Jail who are charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and obtaining/obtaining/providing a stored value card, card account number or PIN to an inmate. The case is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

Sheriff Pat Labat praised the actions, saying: “Our investigators are committed to fighting crime inside and outside the prison walls. This was a complex case that took our dedicated team months to investigate. The arrests of these men and women will undoubtedly put an end to their criminal activities. We will continue to pursue those who facilitate criminal activity inside the prison.”

Chimere Arnold, 40, was also arrested in a separate case. Arnold had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court in Clayton County.
