Mumbai-Goa highway: CM Shinde reviews pending repair work ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi – Road News

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Raigad district on Monday to inspect the progress of work on the Mumbai-Goa highway ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The visit followed recent criticism by Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam, who slammed Maharashtra Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan for the poor condition of the highway.

Implementation of advanced repair technologies

During his visit, Shinde stressed on the use of modern technologies to repair potholes and damaged sections of the highway to make travel easier for those heading to coastal areas for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Officials of NHAI, MSRDC and PWD have thoroughly analysed the problems of the highway and are implementing effective solutions to improve the situation.

Shinde appreciated the commitment of Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in arranging loans to contractors. However, he pointed out that some contractors had neglected their responsibilities, which had led to the current problems. He assured that contractors responsible for substandard work would face consequences.

Although the Ratnagiri-Goa section of the highway has been completed and made operational, significant work is still required on several stretches of the highway in Raigad. The condition of the road remains a major concern, especially in view of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which sees many people travelling from the cities to their ancestral homes in Konkan.

With the festive season approaching, concerns are growing among residents and travelers about the condition of the highway. The State Government’s efforts to address these issues are being closely watched and it is hoped that the necessary improvements will be made in time to ensure safe travel for all.
