The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has launched a new prepaid card that introduces the new “Double Earn” feature in Kuwait.
The updated product is a revamped version of the NBK UEFA Champions League Platinum Mastercard Prepaid Card, available for family members aged 7 and above. It is the first prepaid cashback card in Kuwait aimed at both parents and younger users.
Cardholders earn 3 points for every KD spent domestically and internationally, as well as 3 points for every KD loaded onto the card. These points can be redeemed as cashback directly onto the card or via e-vouchers and gift cards that can be used at over 185 merchants worldwide. The card’s rewards options include popular categories for younger users such as PlayStation and Xbox.
Young users can manage their rewards through a dedicated web portal that allows them to access their points and redeem them without parental supervision. In addition, cardholders benefit from unlimited free access to more than 25 airport lounges when traveling with their parents, as well as exclusive offers from Mastercard. The card can be issued instantly through the NBK Mobile Banking app and added to digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Samsung Wallet or Google Pay.
Regarding the launch of this new product, NBK representatives explained that the aim of launching this card is to promote financial literacy among the younger generation by encouraging responsible spending and saving from a young age.
What else does NBK have planned?
In August 2024, NBK announced the launch of a new service that allows customers to confirm their payment transactions online through the NBK Mobile Banking app. With the NBK Secure Shopping service, customers were given the option to confirm all online transactions directly through the banking app without having to enter an OTP.
At the time of the announcement, the service was available to holders of NBK debit cards (international spend only), NBK foreign currency prepaid cards and NBK multi-currency prepaid cards. To benefit from it, customers must enable NBK push notifications, according to the bank.
