Netflix hacker claims Stranger Things season 5 leaks coming soon

Just when you thought it was safe to go online again, a Netflix hacker has claimed that episodes of Stranger Things season 5 will be leaked very soon.

The news comes after a major data breach occurred at Netflix, resulting in clips from upcoming anime series such as Terminator Zero, Dandadan and Mappa’s remake of Ranma 1/2 being illegally shared online.

The clips, which are of poor quality and were not released as intended, were followed by leaks of other shows, including the highly anticipated second season of Arcane and the third season of Heartstopper.

Then, late last week, rumors emerged that the hacker’s next target would be Season 5 of Stranger Things.

Considering this is the final chapter of Netflix’s biggest title and the release date isn’t set until 2025, these claims seem pretty far-fetched.

However, the same anonymous leaker, Jace Johnson, has since claimed that they will receive the Season 5 episodes on Wednesday, August 15th.

They explained in a post that while Stranger Things “was not part of the website that was hacked,” they had spoken to a hacker who showed them clips from Season 5, Episode 1.

“He said he’ll send me the leaked episodes on Wednesday. Should I post them even though I’ll probably get sued by Netflix?” they wrote.

Like last week’s rumor, the idea was not particularly well received by the Stranger Things fan community.

“Disrespectful, piss off,” wrote one, while another replied: “Nope. Have some respect for all the cast and crew involved in this show. Head shake.”

“Don’t do that. Leaks are harmful,” added a third, while a fourth interjected: “You’re only doing this to gain influence. Stop it immediately.”

A fifth said: “Please don’t. I understand it’s like ‘if you don’t want to see it then don’t watch it’ but people WILL spoil it. I’ve been waiting for season 5 and thousands of others have too. We don’t want it spoiled, please please please don’t.”

However, “Stranger Things” is not the only threat this week. The hacker also claimed to have posted unfinished content from Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” online.

Netflix commented on the data leak last week, telling The Wrap that its team is “taking aggressive actions to remediate the issue.”

Meanwhile, a Riot Games spokesperson told Dexerto about the situation in Arcane Season 2: “The leaked parts are of low quality and feature watermarks, missing content, and bad audio.

“The complete show, in its intended form and with the best viewing experience, will be coming to Netflix in November 2024.”

If you’re fed up with it and don’t want to have your favorite show spoiled, you can still install an extension that blocks spoilers until the release date.
