New Beebe Healthcare Center opens in Milton

Beebe Healthcare’s new health center in Milton is now open.

Beebe’s Milton Health Center at the Jerry Ann McLamb Medical Pavilion provides Sussex County with preventive and active care, including occupational therapy, laboratory services and 3D mammograms.

According to a representative of the organization, the facility is expected to serve about 10,000 patients annually and accept most major insurance plans.

The Milton Center provides comprehensive care, including primary care. The walk-in care center is one of five under Beebe and the first in the Milton area.

Chief medical officer Paul Sierzenski said access to health care would be easier when multiple services were offered under one roof.

“In order to maintain people’s well-being and health and to help them maintain their health in the best possible way, it is really ideal if care is provided in their own community,” Sierzenski said.

The structure of the new health center will enable health care workers to work better together as a care team, Sierzenski said.

According to DHSS, transportation issues and not being able to get an appointment on time are the two most common reasons for delays in receiving medical treatment in Delaware.

“Being close to these facilities makes it easier,” Sierzenski said. “Not only for the patient, but also for those who support the patient, their family members and others who take them to and from these facilities.”

Sierzenski says convenience is often the deciding factor in whether patients seek preventive care that may prevent a health problem from worsening or even occurring.

Beebe spent $7.5 million to equip the new facility, including technology and equipment costs.

The organization has more than a dozen primary care facilities, several laboratory and imaging sites, five health centers and three health campuses.
