New Directions Center needs donations

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) – The New Directions Center needs donations to support its shelter serving the Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro areas.

Joy Ingram, director of community engagement at the New Directions Center, says the home has supplies for toilet paper, towels and cleaning supplies. Ingram also says donations and help from the community keep the organization running.

“Not everyone has family to go to (or has) the first month’s rent saved for an apartment,” Ingram said of the clients New Directions serves. “The New Directions Center, and especially our shelter, is here to help victims who have nowhere else to go,” Ingram continued.

The New Directions Center supports and advocates for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in the SAW area. The confidential shelter provides temporary emergency housing for survivors, as well as a food distribution, hygiene products, and clothing pantry for survivors in need.

For more information about donations accepted, visit the New Directions Center website. The crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day at (540)-886-6800. You can also text an advocate at (804)-793-9999 or chat with an advocate online.
