New early childhood education center being built in Henderson

A new early childhood education center is being built in Henderson.

On Tuesday, the City of Henderson announced that it had received approval from the City Council to build a new early childhood education center as part of the city’s strategic priority of “Quality Education.”

“This is another exciting investment in our commitment to quality education in Henderson,” said Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero.

“We know that 90% of a child’s brain development occurs before kindergarten. We also know that programs like these can really help families who may need more childcare options for their children.”

The Early Childhood Education Center is to be located near Grand Cadence and Galleria Drive, near the Eastside and Downtown redevelopment areas, and will include:

  • 12,000 to 15,000 square meters
  • 7-9 classrooms for about 180 preschool children
  • Playgrounds, offices and more

This will be the second preschool for the City of Henderson; the other is located at the Valley View Recreation Center.

The estimated cost of the Early Childhood Education Center is $15.3 million, including the design, construction and installation of the project.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
