New mobile app uses AI to help Vermonters find jobs

An application has just been launched that uses artificial intelligence to help Vermonters find and apply for jobs. Vermont Employment Pathfinder helps users find the right career opportunities by building a resume, identifying suitable jobs and applying for those jobs.

Vermont Employment Pathfinder was launched in Brattleboro in 2022 through a partnership between Brattleboro Development Credit Corp. and technology company Skill Lab with the goal of improving the skills and wages of marginalized and underemployed workers.

At the launch event on Monday afternoon, August 26, at the Old North End Community Center in Burlington, VEP developers emphasized the importance of this application for new Americans, English learners, and young professionals.

How the Vermont Employment Pathfinder works

The app will interview job seekers using a series of questions. It will ask for information about work experience and education, the user’s skills, and personal information such as hobbies and volunteer work.

Based on the individual skills profile, the AI will recommend careers and identify career goals. It will highlight “relevant and sustainable careers” and also recommend local apprenticeships or training based on skills gaps. The AI can translate information into 28 languages, making the program accessible to a wide range of people.

The application is free and available to job seekers across the state.
