The Claremont Senior Center is open every Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. There are many activities including billiards, card games, cribbage, puzzles, mahjong, knitting and quilting, to name a few. Also planned are Miracle Ear, an American Red Cross blood drive and a VNA foot clinic.

The Claremont Senior Center will be closed on Monday, September 2nd for Labor Day.

The lunch reservation phone number is 603-678-0433. There are two options for dining: dine-in or drive-thru. Reservations are required by 10:30 a.m. for both. The menu for Tuesday, August 27th is turkey tetrazzini with vegetables and fruit cocktail. The menu for Tuesday, August 29th is mild chili with cornbread and peach pie. Meals are subject to change. Cost is $5 for members and $6 for non-members.

Join us for an evening of dancing, socializing, or just live music from Gerry Grimo and the East Bay Dance Combo on Friday, September 27th from 7-9pm. Large dance floor and comfortable seating at round tables. Bring a friend and make new friends. Light snacks and water provided. Bring your own beverages, open to the public. The August Foot Clinic will be held on Wednesday, August 28. It is sponsored by Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice and costs $30. Call 603-748-1731 to schedule an appointment.

Bingo takes place every Wednesday afternoon; tickets must be purchased by 12:45pm. Games begin at 1pm and a small refreshment stand is available before games begin.

Want to show off your cribbage skills with others? Come join other enthusiastic players on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.

Would-be Mahjong newbies are welcome. Interested in learning the game? Come along on Fridays at 1 p.m.

Come by and show off your knitting masterpieces, we look forward to seeing them, so come by on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm and have a good time.

The Women to Women group meets on Thursday, September 19th at 1pm. All women are welcome to come along and talk about any issues that concern them.

Blood donation campaign –

The next scheduled American Red Cross event is Monday, August 26, from noon to 5 p.m. Please call 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) to schedule an appointment.

Want to join in on the pool? Women play every Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Men play Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Come tell your story with the quilting skills you want to share with other quilters. You don’t have to be a quilter to participate; bring your own project. The next meeting is Monday, September 9th at 10am.

The wait is finally over, because starting September 16, chair yoga will be available again on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Admission is free for members and $5 for non-members. The registration list is available in the lobby.

Bring your dancing feet to line dancing every Monday from 7-9pm. Beginner line dancing starts from 7-8:30pm and then there’s advanced dancing from 8:30-9pm. Cost is $3 for members (bring your card) and $5 for non-members. One price applies to beginner and advanced classes. Bring your own drink and snack if you need one.

The next Tai Chi class will be on Wednesday, August 28th from 9:15am to 10:15am. We will be changing to a monthly fee as the class will continue to be billed monthly. For members the fee is $40, for non-members it is $50 and for weekly walk-ins it is $15. If you pay monthly you must pay at the beginning of each month or weekly until the beginning of the following month.

We have two ping pong tables and would like to know if any individuals or groups are interested in using them. There is a sign-up sheet in the Senior Center lobby. Stop by and let us know or call Cheryl at 603-543-5998 for more information.

The next members meeting will be on Tuesday, September 10th at 1pm. You will find out what is happening at the centre and have the chance to win a free lunch.

New members are always welcome to join our service. You can sign up for a one-month trial membership.
