NFL reporter praises Patriots player Drake Maye as a “game changer” at quarterback level

Patriots fans have already recognized Drake Maye’s potential, even though the rookie quarterback’s NFL career has only been going for a few months.

SNY’s New York Jets reporter Connor Rogers saw it while watching the North Carolina product ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Rogers joined NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast to preview the New York season and provide some insight on Maye.

“I love Drake Maye. I thought he was the second-best quarterback in the draft, behind Caleb Williams,” Rogers told NESN’s George Balekji.

“I just look at him and think that as a quarterback, his presence can decide the game because he knows how to throw the ball far and he can make plays with his legs,” Rogers said.

Maye showcased this game-changing ability during the Patriots’ training camp and preseason games, including when he impressed against the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday the team has decided on a starting quarterback but has not announced it yet. However, it looks like Maye will begin the season behind the experienced Jacoby Brissett.
