Nick Cannon knows that his ex-wife, MariahCareyis the one who escaped.
“We belong together,” Cannon, 43, joked to E! News on Tuesday, August 6, referring to Carey’s 2005 hit of the same name. The actor then said he would “absolutely” get back together with Carey, 55, if he had the chance. “(I) would be stupid not to,” he said.
When asked what was stopping him and Carey from rekindling their romance, Cannon quipped, “She doesn’t want me.” His co-host on “We Playin’ Spades,” Courtney Beeand then made fun of Cannon’s large clan.
“Yes, you went and had about ten children,” she said.
Cannon, who has had 12 children with six different women, including Carey, was not offended by the joke.
“A whole baseball team,” he admitted. “Like, ‘No, you can’t come back home.'”
Cannon became a father for the first time while married to Carey. The former couple married in 2008, had twins Monroe and Moroccan in 2011, and divorced in 2016.
In addition to the 13-year-old twins, Cannon has sons Golden (7) and Rise (22 months) and daughter Powerful (3) with Brittany Bellthe twin sons Zion and Zillion, 3, and the daughter Beautiful, 20 months, with Abby De La RosaSon Zen, who died of a brain tumor in 2021 at the age of 5 months, and daughter Halo, 19 months, with Alyssa ScottSon Legendary, 2, with Bre Tiesi and daughter Onyx, 22 months, with LaNisha Cole.
Cannon said Tuesday that his children’s mothers get along “fantastically,” even though he “doesn’t expect that from them.”
“Everyone lives their own life, before me and after me,” he explained. “I think that’s how you keep the peace and keep everyone moving. Everyone looks after themselves and not what anyone else is doing. As long as the kids are happy and have the greatest possible understanding, I think it makes sense. That’s what you have to assume.”
Cannon had previously stated that Carey had no problems with his ever-growing family.
“She says, ‘As long as you don’t bring that bullshit to the Manor of Carey,'” he said during a May 2023 appearance on the “Jason Lee Show” podcast. “She lives in her own world, nothing can penetrate that bullshit. When we talk daily, she’s just checking in to see how I’m doing.”
Cannon added that the “Always Be My Baby” singer has a “high frequency” and always “encourages” him.
“She’s always asking me, ‘Are you OK? Are you good? How’s it going? Are you handling everything?'” he said. “She’s like, ‘Yo, let’s make sure we’re on the same page every day.'”
Because he’s so in tune with his first co-parent, Cannon gets sentimental when he thinks about his and Carey’s children growing up.
“We’re almost done,” he told E! News on Tuesday. “We have teenagers now. I’m about to shed a tear. It’s going too fast.”
Carey, for her part, raved about her and Cannon’s children to the same medium earlier this month.
“I love them so much. They’re really good kids,” she said. “I don’t think they’re bad or evil in any way, like I am. They’re really good kids, and they’re very smart and funny.”
