Nick Wayne on how Christian Cage shaped his AEW journey

Nick Wayne is highly praised for his potential in professional wrestling, a term often used to describe him as more of a prodigy. At 19 years old, Wayne appreciates the fact that he is still learning and evolving. Thankfully, he is happy to share that wisdom and experience with Christian Cage.

On the Battleground Podcast, Wayne talked about his relationship with Cage and how grateful he is for the support he has received. Wrestle Wayne recalls how his younger Wilfred Place would be shocked in a few years at what his professional life has become.

As a mainstream wrestling fan, Wayne spoke about Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, who were among his childhood heroes. Cage is, as Wayne once put it, “completely underrated and one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time.”

Nick Wayne – Surreal Experience

Wayne said: “It’s just so unreal.” “I remember going to Sting and asking him what could be done better and now I have to say: ‘Christian, please watch my games and tell me what you think because I want to improve.’ It’s impossible for them to put into words that they were practically on top of their respective fields and that’s pretty inspiring.

And it’s really a privilege to have them teach me and have such authority over them.” Despite his young age of just 16, Wayne had risen to fame as a wrestler in independent promotions. This achievement earned him the offer of an AEW contract that would begin on his 18th birthday.

Last year, when Wayne officially debuted for AEW, he initially teamed with Darby Allin and Sting, who were also his close friends. Wade, Allin and Sting rubbed off on the wrong side and fell into Christian Cage’s design, which led to him joining Christian Cage.

So they created a structure with Cage at the top, who was also joined by Killswitch, better known as Luchasaurus, in the group called The Patriarchy.
