Nikki Glaser will host the 2025 Golden Globes in January

Attention Golden Globe nominees: Nikki Glaser will be hosting next year.

The popular comedian and sharp-tongued celebrity critic will host the 82nd Golden Globes in January.

“I am thrilled to host the Golden Globes,” Glaser wrote in a statement. “It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I have a front row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage). The Golden Globes is not only a big night for television and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times show business not only allows but encourages being lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God, I hope so.) It’s an exciting but challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who may also be getting drunk while sitting next to their ex-boyfriends).”

Glaser continued, “Some of my all-time favorite jokes come from the opening monologues of Golden Globes past, when Tina (Fey), Amy (Poehler) or Ricky (Gervais) said exactly what none of us knew we needed to hear. I just hope to continue that time-honored tradition (which might also result in me being canceled). It’s truly a dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty about every TV show and movie I’ve binged over the past year. It was all worth it. (Below deck: sailing yacht Season 4 will be nominated, right?)”

“Nikki Glaser brings a fresh and unmatched candor to her comedy and to the Golden Globes,” said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO of Dick Clark Productions and Penske Media Corporation. “Her uncompromising style made her an obvious and compelling choice to host this year’s event. We hope this could be the first of many Golden Globes where Nikki will surprise and delight our CBS audience as well as our audiences around the world.”

Glaser seems to be a smart choice for the awards ceremony. She has proven herself to be a quick-witted comedian in several stand-up shows and received, among other things, an Emmy nomination for HBO’s Nikki Glaser: One day you will die this year). She was widely regarded as the best actress on Netflix The Roast of Tom Brady in May. Glaser’s killer instincts and her obscene instincts should also help give the show a sense of risky unpredictability, which has felt tamer since Gervais stopped hosting in 2020. Plus, the last two Globes hosts – Jo Koy and Jerrod Carmichael – received rather negative reviews. The show tried a host-free format in 2022, which was also panned. The last Globes host setup that was widely considered successful was in 2021, when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-hosted.

Glaser currently hosts and is executive producer Lovers and liarsa spin-off of the reality dating series from HBO Max and CW FBoy Islandwhich she hosted for three seasons and was executive producer. She also hosted The Nikki Glaser Podcast since 2021.

“Nikki Glaser is a comedic powerhouse whose bold and unfiltered humor is a perfect fit for the Golden Globes,” said Helen Hoehne, President of the Golden Globes. “She is sure to bring a unique energy and spontaneity to the show that will keep audiences entertained all evening long.”

“The Golden Globes have a long tradition of being an evening of entertaining, provocative humor,” added George Cheeks, CEO Office of Paramount Global and President and CEO of CBS. “Nikki Glaser is a comedic force whose witty, sassy and irreverent comedy will continue that legacy and make this special event a can’t-miss event.”

The 82nd Golden Globes will air on Sunday, January 5, on CBS and stream on Paramount+ for Paramount+ With Showtime subscribers.

Dick Clark Productions, which produces the Golden Globes, is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge, which also owns The Hollywood Reporter.
