Nintendo has officially discontinued repair support for the New Nintendo 3DS.
In a new X/Twitter post shared and machine translated on the Japanese Nintendo account today, the company announced that repair services for the New Nintendo 3DS have been suspended due to a shortage of parts needed to service the handheld console.
Earlier this year, Nintendo announced that it would discontinue repair services once spare parts for Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo 2DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS were exhausted.
Support for Nintendo 3DS XL and standard Nintendo 3DS has already been discontinued, and now it’s the New Nintendo 3DS’ turn to be discontinued.
“We are now discontinuing repair service for the Nintendo 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS LL systems because the retention period for spare parts specified in the repair service terms of each product has expired,” Nintendo explained in a support post at the time.

“For this reason, we will discontinue repair service for the Nintendo 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS LL systems once our current parts inventory is exhausted.”
The company has now updated the post, saying: “We no longer have any parts required for repair and are therefore no longer accepting repairs for the New Nintendo 3DS system.”
The only consoles in the DS family that still have repair support available are the Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 2DS XL, but given the announcement, it’s likely that service for both will end soon.
In July, Nintendo also ended repair support for the Wii U, citing the fact that it “no longer has the parts necessary for repairs” and “no longer accepts repairs of Wii U consoles and peripherals.”
