It’s always nice when we can try out a video game for free before spending our hard-earned money, especially when it drastically reduces the chances of us wasting our money, regardless of our platform of choice.
The days of physical demo disks are over many years ago, but today we find ourselves in an ever-evolving digital gaming world. Platforms like the Nintendo eShop offer a wealth of free games that we can play almost instantly.

With that in mind, here are six playable demos that you can download for free now via the Nintendo eShop:
- Metroid Dread: “An updated version of the free demo of Metroid Dread is now available. Descend into the depths of the planet ZDR in Normal or Rookie mode and get a taste of Samus Aran’s latest mission, culminating in a battle against the giant beast Corpius!”
- Hyrule Warriors – Age of Calamity: “Play the first chapter of the game either alone or in local two-player mode as Link, Zelda, and Impa. Then you can transfer your save data from the demo to the full game and continue your quest to defeat Calamity Ganon!”
- Mario Strikers – Battle League Football: “Aim for victory with teamwork, tackles, game-winning items, and score-boosting Hyper Strikes in Mario Strikers: Battle League Football on Nintendo Switch. Do whatever it takes to win in fast-paced local multiplayer, and team up with other players online to become the best club in the world!”
