No injuries, heavy damage in large building fire in east Fort Wayne on Wednesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) says no one was injured in a large fire that caused major damage to buildings on Fort Wayne’s east side Wednesday afternoon.

According to FWFD, it was a second alarm fire, meaning twice the number of firefighters responded to the scene.

At 4:26 p.m., a public safety alert was issued, asking residents to avoid the area due to “a large structure fire causing significant traffic delays.”

The story continues after our live coverage of the fire.

According to FWFD, the fire was under control by 6:21 p.m. No injuries were reported, but FWFD said fire, smoke and water conditions were severe.
