No one was immune to the floods in Toronto – not even Drake

After days of torrential rain in southern Ontario, communities across Toronto were hit by localized flooding on Tuesday.

And no one was immune — not even October’s Very Own. Rapper Drake, who lives in the city’s affluent Bridle Path neighborhood, posted on social media a now-viral video of his luxurious home, nicknamed “The Embassy,” submerged in murky brown water.

People had a lot to say.

One X user asked: “Why don’t they close doors to minimize the influx?”

“Someone buy this man some rubber boots,” said one Reddit user.

Okay, Drake—the Internet has spoken. It looks like you need some flood prevention tips.

Here’s what you can do if your home floods:

  1. Do not attempt to turn off the power if water is present because water and live wires can be deadly, says the Canadian government. In the USA, FEMA suggests immediate shutdown of electricity and gas to prevent accidents, but only when it is safe to do so.

  2. Avoid contact with water. Floodwater may contain sewage or chemicals, warns the Canadian Red Cross. Wear protective clothing if you must touch it.

  3. Document damage. Experts recommend taking photos and videos for insurance purposes before starting cleanup work.

So there you have it, Champagne Papi. Stay dry, stay safe, and maybe invest in some protective footwear next time.
