“Not Like Us” dethrones “Hit’em Up” as the most streamed diss track

Kendrick Lamar’s diss track against Drake, “Not Like Us,” continues to garner praise. According to various reports, it became the most streamed diss track of all time over the weekend, dethroning Tupac Shakur’s classic diss track “Hit’em Up.”

Lamar’s latest diss track in the Drake feud has surpassed 647 million streams, surpassing Pac’s diss against Biggie, which held the title with 641 million. Lamar referenced 2Pac in “Not Like Us” in response to Drake’s mention of the rap icon in his “Taylor Made Freestyle” diss to K.Dot earlier in the feud.

In “Not Like Us,” Kendrick Lamar claims that Drake has relationships with minors, befriends Atlanta artists to gain influence, causes legal trouble, and more. The track generated 1.4 million views on YouTube within an hour of its release. Mustard produced the track.

The song’s success led to a music video, a concert, and a video game. It is eligible for a Grammy nomination and many believe it will win “Song of the Year.” Kamala Harris performed the song at a rally for her presidential campaign.

It has inspired others to use it for various remakes, including Taraji P. Henson, who performed a version at this year’s BET Awards. Megan Thee Stallion rapped the song during her Hot Girl Summer tour.

The dispute between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has divided the biggest stars in hip hop today. Lil Yachty, Birdman and Sexyy Redd have sided with Drake, while others like Rick Ross, Future and the entire Los Angeles hip hop scene have sided with Kendrick Lamar. Those who have remained neutral include 21 Savage, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and The Game.

Dr. Dre, Kendrick’s mentor, surprised everyone at the legendary pop-out concert at the Kia Forum in June to support his protégé and debut the diss track, which was played six times in a row. Live versions of the diss track were promoted on California radio and mixed in with the original.
